Stories - I can remember my 55' Buick

I can remember my 55' Buick
no radio - no heat but I loved that car!
when I got a job in Trenton
I thought the commute would kill her for sure
so I reluctantly bought a new Olds
not wanting my sweet Buick to just die
there was this car wash around the corner
where I'd go... this old dude also had a 55' Buick just like mine
and was interested in my beauty he'd fix up for his son
woot! my car could live
so with a tear in my eye I handed over her and the registration to him
no charge ... my car was what was important
and she was going to be fixed up and continue on
-lol-
it was around 6 months later ...
the phone rings
this junk yard dude says
" hey ..buddy I got your car
and if you want her you gotta pay me the $250 bucks
for the tow"
I laugh and say "look my car is in the driveway"
looking out the window
"I can see it right now"
"Oh yeah he goes I got your 55' Buick right here
and if you ever wanta see her again you gotta cough
up the doe"
What! my Buick!
"Yeah and into the shredder she goes .. now how about it"
- what a
I could hear myself saying ..
'go ahead and shred it'
yes ...my baby ... my sweet car
never was fixed up
driven into the ground
no license - no nothing - with only my name on the registration ..................
f#%ing twist - but that's life -

get the OIL monkey off our backs ....

We need to just get the OIL monkey off our backs!

The United States cannot drill its way to energy independence when we
consume over 20 percent of the world's petroleum, yet hold about two
percent of the proven oil reserves.

We need to just use the only source of all energy on this planet, the
SUN.

In Jersey, more densely populated than Japan, China, India, Mexico, we
drivers can take steps to cut our gas use today, but we also need a
plan that cuts our long-term national oil use, not just until the end
of the next gas price spike.
